More boyz pictures

Second batch is complete. Below the fold...

Much happier with this set. Still a bit loose here and there, but the fundamentals are sounder. The pants got two coats (as did the base) and a third coat went on top of the straps; the pants then got a chestnut wash and then a mud wash, while the straps got a black wash. The skin on these is darker - instead of just painting dark green and then light green, I drybrushed in the light green. (You drybrush by wiping almost all the paint off the brush, then scrubbing it over the area you want to paint - hard on the brush, but it does a good job of only putting paint on the raised areas.) I then washed it with green wash (this is kind of the opposite... the darker wash is concentrated in the low parts and creates deeper shadows.)

I experimented a bit with using a bronze color as a highlight for the "tin" color, but honestly, it looks too orange; I think I'm happier with a silver highlight that makes it look worn.

Where do I go from here? Tough to say. The straps could really use outlining, but that's a hard technique that requires a steady hand. I'm also doing a really simplistic job on the shirts and other blue accents - only one color of blue, heh. The skin could use highlighting, but that's another technique where you can slip up and do damage to what you've already done... not sure I'm up to it yet.

I think at this point I ought to just say "these don't look 'alf bad" and just paint a lot more of 'em. Next batch will be 10 boyz in size...
