Saimoe update 10/15

Okay, welcome back to Saimoe's block finals. Our first one's a showdown between two tsunderes - Shana versus Nagi. Man, kind of tough to call this one in advance, as I haven't been keeping up with Shana (need to fire off an order, but I want to wait until I have... y'know... time to watch it.) But with the second season just airing in Japan, the timing couldn't be any better for the Flame Haze. Nagi is definitely doing it as having just the right amount of tsun (i.e. not so bloody much, Japan), but at the same time Hayate's starting to drag a little bit - it just doesn't have the zing that it had for the first few episodes. Even so, there's a lot of Hayate fans out there, so it should be a heavily-voted round one way or the other.
Today's final, A block:

<<シャナ@灼眼のシャナ シリーズ>>(Shana@Shakugan no Shana Series)
<<三千院ナギ@ハヤテのごとく!>>(Sanzenin Nagi@Hayate the Combat Butler)

1 problem with Hayate fans is that they choke worst then A-Rod when they go up against a big name. They can squish the like guys but when i have never seen Hayate take any major characters in Saimoe yet.

2 Speaking from a personal point of view, this was a miserable time to have the Hayate contingent break their alleged jinx.

Incidentally, the vote totals didn't quite reach what I'd expected. Maybe the Kugimiya mirror match didn't incite particularly strong feelings one way or the other (i.e. "whoever wins, we win")? I saw a number of comments that said something in the vein of "I was hesitating over this for a while, and I like X, but in the end I'm voting for Y."

3 That's pretty common in the last rounds of Saimoe. Most of the characters left are from popular shows, most of the voters have seen most of the popular shows, so the majority of the voters like the majority of the characters to one degree or other (save a few they'll hate...) Lots of judgment calls this late.

...they choke worst then A-Rod...

I'm sorry, but this CANNOT be allowed to stand unchallenged.  Let's look at some stats from the ALDS:

Alex Rodriguez: 4/15, 1 HR, 2 BB, 0 GIDP
Derek Jeter: 3/17, 0 HR, 0 XBH, 0 BB, 3 GIDP

Jorge Posada: 2/15, 2 BB
Hideki Matsui: 2/11, 5 BB

Yep, that A-Rod, he's a choker all right.

(GIDP = Grounded Into Double Play, XBH = eXtra Base Hits)

Man, insult the Yankees and a Cubs fan will come out of the woodwork to defend them.

...because, of course, the Cubs fan has nothing else to defend.
