Post mortem: Potemayo

Sat down and finished the show out today. Overall very enjoyable, for a silly/cute series.

Good: Guchuko! God damn, cute little blobbo plus scythe/axe equals great moe indeed. I still want a Guchuko plushie. Pote's not too bad either - plenty cute on her own, lots of fun with her and Sunao and Mikan. Kyo/Guchuko played out well too.

Series got into some heavy-duty reminiscing at the end, which turned out fine in the long run - more characterization for Sunao and his bizarre dad was a good thing. I also liked Yasumi and Tomari, who did a good job of injecting some fun into the human side of the series.

Bad: Most of the other characters. Even Mikan can get on your nerves early on, and some of them start in a rut and never get out - the three classmates in the weird master/slave/gay onlooker triangle especially got on my nerves. (Most especially the green-haired girl, who has the most annoying voice I've encountered in years. Holy moly, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard!) They spend way too much time developing these losers when they could have Guchuko on the screen.

A success overall, though. Kept me interested to the end, in a kind of cute and lightweight way.
