Enka? In my Aika?
Ending song of the Aika special episode is a duet with Aika and Gozo singing a bit of enka. Just what I needed to cap off a six-day tear! Insomnia isn't so bad when you can be productive.
Subtitling is going well, all told - being on a thirty-day invoice for your primary income isn't precisely an ideal situation (especially when you don't invoice until final delivery), but the insurance job let me build up cash reserves that can hold out for quite some time, so it's no biggie, so long as the car doesn't blow out another intake manifold gasket. On the other hand, I hardly drive anywhere lately...
Recreational anime-watching has been circumscribed somewhat - just been keeping up with Hayate (still funny, though it's laying the references on pretty thick lately) and Moyashimon (one of the little quirky shows that makes anime such a fun hobby.)

Of course, you can't tell us, but it's odd that someone would send the money to subtitle Aika again. It was released in R1 a long time ago, with both dub and sub. It's not exactly a hot title; I doubt it was a hot title even originally. Why would someone go to that kind of trouble for a re-release?

So how far exactly have you gone into subbing Nanoha A's and Zero no Tsukaima?
I wonder what Geneon has in store for these titles...

Nah, it's not the first time I've busted open a golden oldie (or even a wasn't-really-golden oldie, for that matter.) I redid several old ADV titles while I was working for them. When you're preparing a show for DVD, the subtitles have to be just so; in ye olden days of the industry, the necessary data files were not properly preserved sometimes, or were lost in various minor catastrophes.
At least this time, I didn't have to transcribe subtitles directly from video; I remember doing that for Galaxy Fraulein Yuna, where most of the characters were identified in my file by their hair color. (Yuna's quite possibly the most flagrant example of "let's assume everybody played the game" anime - it's literally impossible to decipher who most of the characters are from the context of the video. Whole packs of 'em will show up with no introduction whatsoever, beyond "hey, guys! I'm so happy you came to help!")
Thus, sometimes it's quicker and easier to just time the thing anew, rather than run an uncertain set of timecodes through and wait for it to blow up when you give it to the DVD author.
I'm into A's and almost done with Zero, if it's timing you're talking about. There's plenty to do after timing is finished, and I'm considerably less advanced in that, for various reasons. Nevertheless, I expect to be finished or practically finished with both shows before we get solid news about releases. (No real reason, just my gut feeling.)

I think when Bandai licensed R16 they got the first one as well, maybe they couldn't get or didn't think the old translations were up to level.
I'm praying TRSI (quality) or Media Blasters (Price) does Nanoha for them, since their better known for smaller market titles anyway.
