Well, it's nice to hear that everything's coming along fine, even with Geneon's current situation.
By the way, is it possible that you can give us periodic updates every few weeks or so on how the subbing is going along for those two shows? You know, to give us reassurance that Geneon intends to release them one way or another?

Note that I can't speak for the production end of it. I know work's proceeding on the show, I know it's being dubbed, I know they're working under a pretty quick deadline... but I don't know any details of where it'll go after that. I mean, I'm assuming that it's going to come out, because nobody pays for subtitles that they don't plan to use. But I don't have any actual knowledge here.

Certainly it's possible that someone else will pick up the R1 license and continue the release. But it's also possible no one will. We'll just have to wait and see.
The only Geneon titles we're sure are continuing are Zero no Tsukaima and the first season of Nanoha. (heh)

Sure those three series are going to be continued, but what about Karin? I've watched The Familiar Of Zero before, but after the first season, the plot goes down QUICK. So I ask those who may actually be a part of what is left of Geneon; you had more than five excellent series going on, why pick those three when you could of made money elsewise?
Although, even if Karin were to be continued, if the series did not have the same actors, then it may as well remain uncontinued. Simply beacause of the excellent voice actors and twevle episodes of the anime are already made with the original actors voices.

"Why pick those three when you could of made money elsewise?"
You've more or less put your finger on the exact problem. If Geneon was a profitable enterprise, it wouldn't have been sunk by its parent company, at least not in this fashion. Fact is, though, it wasn't. You can speculate whether it was due to high costs (contract work ain't cheap) or low sales (heh) or exorbitant bids for marginal series (heh heh), but it's not like they closed down a mint here.

Essentially, Dentsu has decided that they want Geneon USA to be like Kadokawa USA - a company that's a licensing front and works with other US companies to do the actual dirty work of the release. Teaming up with ADV would have allowed Geneon to do this. I can speculate as to why the deal fell apart, but I don't actually know; I do know that there's some delicious irony in how this came to pass, and will leave it at that.
Fact is, there just aren't many options for distribution. ADV, Funimation, Bandai, maybe Media Blasters, everyone else is just too small to consider; it's a list of potential competitors, not business partners. It's just a question of whether those companies think they can get a better deal by partnering with Geneon USA early, or by letting them die on the vine and plucking individual titles off later, MB-license-rescue style.

Of course, maybe it did. It's entirely possible that Geneon's contracts demanded that they finish certain shows but not others, or that they were able to negotiate their way out of certain contracts but not others, or that they prioritized certain shows over others. Or another company could be coming in to cherry-pick certain titles, but not others. No data from this end, they've told me nothing.
If they were all good sellers, Geneon wouldn't have been shut down the way they were; it's safe to assume that at least some of the shows they were working on were losers. Dunno if Onmyoji was one of them, but it's not beyond belief.

As far as Geneon and what they're going to end up doing, that's up to them. I don't have any contact with 'em.
