Signum, sanjo

Went to work for a couple of hours today and gave it up as a loss - was there until 3 AM yesterday and the late night Burger King counterattacked with many divisions. Not my best day. On my way in to the office, though, I finally picked up my package from the post office... the Alter Signum figure I was talking about earlier this week.

Pics below the fold.

Apologies about the image quality - I still haven't had a chance to take the camera out for a spin yet.

Definitely a nice figure overall. To scale with the other Alter figures, but Signum's actually much taller than most of those characters, so this figure towers over Vita. Good mix of the dynamic pose and the whole flowing-cape thing that the Hayate figure had going for it, I thought.

I should go this weekend, health permitting, and pick up a display case for these things. A friend pointed out a quite nice one at Ikea for $60.

You don't really notice while watching the show, but Signum's battle outfit shows off a whole lot of leg, doesn't it? But with the skirt, it doesn't feel like she's in a skimpy outfit. And unlike some of these models, there's no problem with a high mounting giving the casual viewer an unexpected upskirt view.

Her weapon's almost understated in detail - they could have given it a little more love, I think - but they've really done an outstanding job on her wardrobe. The armor "feels" more like armor than the plates on the Hayate figure.

The skirt is beautiful. The flash photography doesn't really do justice to the understated rose coloration. It's a big improvement over the Rein figure's skirt (just there) and Hayate's skirt (voluminous but monochromatic).

Mmm. They don't make a big point of it in the series, but Signum's pretty busty. (They do, actually, make a big point of it in the sound stage drama CDs. Hayate eventually gets around to groping everyone worth groping, to the point where even she calls it sexual harrassment... no, Lt. Colonel! You can't do that!) At any rate, it's nice to have a high-quality Nanoha figure that's not also of a little girl...

'course, the Hayate one is no slouch in that department either. I should probably go back and rewatch Strikers, come to think of it.

The figure's weakest link, if you would. Dynamic flying leaping pose means a single anchor point not underneath the center of gravity, so there's relatively more stress on this point. Still, solid anchors to sink into the boot, and I don't think it's in any danger of coming apart under its own weight. So long as I don't break it playing with it - it's not an action figure, after all!
