Many pics - Fate, orks, also orks
First up, a pic of the Fate figure that arrived today, because let's be honest... Fate is much cuter than orks.

The movie design for Bardiche is a little round and not as angular-techy as the original, but of the several Fate figures I've seen, this one's got one of the better faces. Most of them have a bad case of masculine-face...
Orks below the cut. Finished pics of the deffkopta "skwadron", and the next batch of boyz, still a work in progress.

These things didn't take 'alf long to paint! Definitely time-consuming, and with a million little details to slow things down.

There's a bunch of stuff on each of the models that I hadn't done before, and most of it came together pretty well. Stuff like the paint chips in the red, adding some nicks and dings... I didn't want to overdo it, partly because it would detract from the rather fun-looking models, and partly because these rickety things are SO dangerous that nobody survives long enough to wear one out completely.

I was asking an ex-mil friend of mine about the skids and how they'd look on army choppers. "Rusty" was his response. Well, if our armed forces don't mind some rust on them, then you can be sure that they're going to be thoroughly filthy and rust-caked on an ork helicopter. I scratched up the leading edge, since orks don't go in for parade-ground landings. (Heck, they're more likely to fight from the cockpit with a weapon in each hand...) The scrapes come in where you would expect to see the koptas impact when scrubbing away speed in a skid. Still need some work on it, but not bad for a first try, and as it's detail on the underside of the model, it's not like it'll get much close scrutiny.

The next set of boyz are coming along pretty nicely. I've done a better job of painting the skin to define some of the muscles, but I've also overdone it a little - the very-dark creases transition a little too much to the brighter green skin. The metalwork is -way- too shiny at this stage, as well, but once I get a few more details done, I'll break out the washes and darken everything down appropriately.

My orks are kind of uniform - blue shirt, brown pants, gray boots, etc. Even the kopta pilots have the same basic palette. But that's also good in the sense that it keeps them looking like a single army. I can always go back with some of the specialists and get more creative later on.
